Red Zone risk assessment Transocean Spitsbergen

Transocean has chosen Mobydo as vendor for Red Zone drill floor risk assessments. Mobydo, a developer of digital control of work solutions and a trusted provider of risk and drilling expertise, is pleased to announce a delivery of Red Zone HAZID to Transocean Spitsbergen.

To operate drill floors in full compliance with authorities' recommendations (081 guideline for remote pipe handling) is still a few years ahead of us. This is mainly due to lack of practical and proven technology available in the industry. We thereby still completely dependent on the skilled and competent drilling crews to carry out drilling operations safe and efficient.

Having a process of frequent reviewing and risk assess the manual work in red zone is an important activity in reducing human exposure as far as practical possible. The Red Zone HAZID is a continuous improvement process and the arena for drilling crews to discuss and evaluate safer and better ways to operate. E.g., handling equipment, different handling procedures and new technology.

Bernt Kvam Randeberg, CEO states: “Our long-term collaboration with Transocean keeps us up-to-date and closer to real operational challenges in the drilling domain. As a dependable solution provider and supplier of digital applications for safety clearance of work, this is an important arena for sharing knowledge and maintaining a pivotal insight into the offshore safety culture and work practices".
